iMPak Health Honored as Recipient of the
2014 Microsoft Health Users Group Innovation Awards
Neptune, NJ - iMPak Health today announced it has been named a recipient of Microsoft Corporation’s 2014 Health Users Group Innovation Awards. iMPak Health brings together the latest in wireless technology and the front-line know-how of today's health care environment to provide consumers and patients with effective and intuitive tools to better manage their health.
The awards, which were announced at the 2014 HIMSS Annual Conference and Exhibition in Orlando, Florida, recognize health organizations and their technology solution partners for using Microsoft devices and services in innovative ways that help enhance the quality of patient care, improve clinician productivity and electronic medical record (EMR) optimization, and streamline clinical and business processes.
The 2014 winners are revolutionizing the health industry by creating breakthrough solutions that are empowering healthcare organizations to make a real impact on healthcare.
"The health care industry is rapidly shifting. Despite these unprecedented changes, organizations and providers are being expected to transform how they operate, but in a way that maintains high quality care for patients,” said Steve Aylward, general manager, Solutions & Strategy of U.S. Health & Life Sciences, Microsoft Corporation. “The winners of this year’s Microsoft Health Users Group Innovation Awards all met this challenge with enthusiasm, advancing true innovation by using technology to achieve excellence.”
iMPak Health’s innovative medication monitoring system, Kraken, was designed to help people organize and manage their medications discretely from the comfort of their home. The Kraken Medication Management solution comes with a sorting station and a portable, lightweight, Bluetooth Smart TM enabled “Daypak” which makes personalized data collection and reporting extremely easy for almost any type of user. The system leverages the power of Windows 8 mobile platform for tablets as well as the Azure capabilities such as virtual machine, Azure AD and the ability to enable web based APIs for easy integration with external data partners, such as Health Vault. In addition, the powerful reporting capabilities enabled through Azure Diagnostics allows for both immediate rules based actions as well as long term data analytics.
“Medication non compliance has been attributed with over $200 billion in avoidable healthcare costs,” said Sandra Elliott, executive director, iMPak Health. “Improving medication compliance can greatly improve the value of health care dollars spent by all stakeholders. This award enables us to demonstrate the power Microsoft tools have to help solve some of the challenges in health care.”
Nominations were submitted by hospitals, health systems, clinics, and public and private health organizations across the world for applying Microsoft technology to create transformative and highly-effective innovations. An esteemed panel of industry experts selected this year’s winners based on how their innovation represents a forward-thinking development or implementation of a solution that is delivering groundbreaking results and producing better health outcomes for more people.
